Unbreakable Will: How Realtor Nikhil Pattani’s Spiritual Discipline is Redefining Corporate Leadership

In an age obsessed with instant gratification, where success is often measured by how fast one can climb the ladder, Real Estate Expert- Sustainability Advocate Nikhil Pattani chooses to walk barefoot—literally and metaphorically—on a path few dare to tread.

The founder of Destiniva Realty, Principal of Scholars' Takshashila and a revered name in Indian real estate, Pattani is not just selling and building sustainable homes—he’s building a legacy of inner fortitude. Now nearing the completion of his third Varshi Tap, a sacred year-long Jain fast observed on alternate days, Pattani stands as a beacon of what true leadership looks like when rooted in spiritual discipline.

A Sacred Promise, A Son’s Devotion

Long before embarking on his own spiritual pursuit, Pattani witnessed the fierce commitment of his mother, Kiran Pattani, who chose to undertake the daunting Varshi Tap. With Pattani's son preparing for crucial board exams, the timing couldn’t have been more inconvenient. But when faith knocks, Pattani answers.

He didn’t outsource care. He didn’t rely on temple kitchens. He woke at 4 a.m. daily, cooking every meal, preparing each detail with the precision of a ritual. He supported his mother fully—while excelling in a high-pressure corporate role. It wasn’t just devotion; it was a masterclass in service, sacrifice, and self-mastery.

Alone on the Hardest Path—By Choice

Inspired by his mother’s resolve, Pattani chose to walk the same spiritual path himself—not once, not twice, but three times. Unlike many who opt for assistance, Pattani embraced hardship. He did not hire help. He did not bend the rules. Even during his intense corporate schedule, he personally cooked, cleaned, and managed his fast.

“If you outsource your duties during Varshi Tap, then what are you truly fasting from? The essence of tapasya is not in comfort—it is in conquering discomfort,” he says.

These aren’t just words. Pattani’s fasts coincided with some of Jainism’s most grueling pilgrimages—Fagun Feri, Girnar, and Palitana Yatra, 108 Parshawnath each demanding both spiritual and physical resilience. He undertook these treks during Chattha, a two-day fast with only water before sunset. No shortcuts. No applause. Just pure, unfiltered willpower.

Ayambil: Fasting in Silence, Leading in Strength

If Varshi Tap is the Everest of Jain fasting, Ayambil is its quiet cousin—consumed only once a day, devoid of salt, spices, or indulgence. Pattani has completed 18 cycles of Oli, each a 9-day test of the senses. It's a practice that strips down nourishment to its barest form, and with it, quiets the noise of desire.

While most struggle to reconcile spiritual life with corporate demands, Pattani merges both worlds seamlessly. Under his leadership, Destiniva Realty has not only grown—it has thrived, bagging accolades like the Business Excellence Award 2024, the APJ Abdul Kalam Award for sustainability in real estate and created a world record with his 1 lakh-word article on real estate

During a recent high-tea event, while observing a Chattha, Pattani managed every detail—guests, arrangements, logistics—with the precision of a CEO and the calm of a monk. If leadership had a spiritual face, this would be it.

Breaking the Fast, Not the Spirit

Come April 30, 2025, Pattani will break his third Varshi Tap fast at a grand Parna ceremony. But to those who know him, the real victory was never in the breaking of the fast—it was in every moment he endured without flinching.

In a world where people wait for “the right time” to begin spiritual or personal transformation, Pattani shows that the right time is simply now.

He isn’t just redefining leadership; he’s rewriting the rules of what success can look like when it's built on the foundation of discipline, resilience, and self-awareness. He reminds us that the greatest power isn’t in commanding others—but in mastering oneself.
